Fax

With the eFax service on your plan, your fax lines both receive and send. Received faxes arrive by email as PDF and can be kept in the portal. Sent faxes go out from the voice portal's Fax tab or by email, and every send comes back with a delivery report.

Fax tab: sending a fax

Sending a fax from the portal

  1. Open the Fax tab in the voice portal. It appears only when your account includes the eFax service.
  2. Choose the fax line to send from. If your account has one fax line it is selected for you.
  3. Enter the destination fax number. US and Canadian numbers can be entered with or without the leading 1; for international numbers enter 011 followed by the number.
  4. Attach the documents. PDF, PNG, JPG, GIF and TIFF files are accepted. Several files are sent as one fax in the order you choose them.
  5. Click Send fax. The fax is queued and starts dialing within a few minutes.

Limits: up to 25 documents, 25 MB of attachments and 100 pages per fax by default. Photos are fitted to a letter-size page automatically. Word or Excel files are not accepted; save them as PDF first.

The Sent list

Fax tab: the Sent list

Every fax you send is listed with its status, page count and attempts. Download returns the document you sent. A fax that has not started dialing yet can be canceled from the list.

The Received list

Faxes received on lines set to keep a portal copy are listed under Received, with the sender, page count and a download. Every received fax is also emailed to the addresses on the line.

Sending a fax by email

Any address listed on a fax line's Fax Email(s) can send a fax without logging in. Address the email to the destination number at the fax domain, attach the document, and send:

To: [email protected]
Attachment: proposal.pdf

Your administrator manages the address list for each fax line under PBX, DIDs, in the eFax section of the number.

Delivery reports

Whether you send from the portal or by email, the result is emailed to you: the delivery time and page count on success, or the reason and number of attempts on failure. Staff can also see every attempt in the administration portal.

Minutes and billing

Sent and received faxes draw on the same eFax minute allowance included with the eFax service. Minutes beyond the allowance are billed at the overage rate on your plan.
